IMG_1118 * It's a bit cold outside...

IMG_1122 * so we head into St Vitus which was heavly damaged in WWII.  The wood carved altar is very old...

IMG_1125 * and the interior mixes romanesque with gothic architcture.

IMG_1129 * Carol hears about the history of this church built in the 1100's from Köbi's daughter-in-law Michaela.

IMG_1134 * The church cemetary was most unusual in that no two headstones were the same.

IMG_1142 * Next stop, the home of the parents, now the home of the son of Köbi, Christoph.

IMG_1144 * We see an old windmill across the road...

IMG_1145 * as well as  the border of the Netherlands.  In 1949 Elten was a part of the Netherlands until 1963 when it was returned to Germany.

IMG_1148 * Carol thinks this could be her grandmother's sewing machine... probably not.

IMG_1149 * Bidding farewell we head back to Dine's house in Duisburg...
