19. John Burnet (bef. 1446 - 1454)
Father: 20. Robert Burnard (bef. 1391 - aft. 1446)
John is believed to be the first of the family to be styled of Leys. John Burnet of Leys was present, on 22 September 1446, at a disposition regarding the mortgaging of Easter Skene to Sir William Keith Marischal.
Reference to a Johannnes Burnet is found in the Burgh Records of Aberdeen 1398-1407.
In charters relating to the Burgh of Aberdeen, it is noted that letters of safe conduct for owners of ships and their crews to trade with the city of London were granted to certain Burgesses of the town including one, dated 10 February 1438/39, to a John Burnet.
